Axel Bouchaux
AXEL BOUCHAUX WAS BORN IN NORMANDY IN, COMPLETED HIS DOUBLE BASS STUDIES AT THE PARIS CONSERVATOIRE WITH FRÉDÉRIC STOCHL AND FOLLOWED A POST-GRADUATE TRAINING AT THE GUILDHALL SCHOOL OF MUSIC IN LONDON WITH THOMAS MARTIN.
THROUGH THE ASSOCIATION FRANCE-USSR HE RECEIVED IN FRANCE THE TEACHING OF EVGUENI KOLLOSSOV DURING TWO INTENSIVE COURSES.

IN 1993 HE BECAME A MEMBER OF THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IN WICH HE HAS SINCE WORKED WITH RINAT IBRAGIMOV AND IN 2000 JOINED AS FIRST DOUBLE BASSIST THE “ORCHESTRE DES CHAMPS-ÉLYSÉES”, AN ORCHESTRA CREATED BY PHILIPPE HERREWEGHE TO PERFORM CLASSICAL AND ROMANTIC MUSIC ON ORIGINAL INSTRUMENTS.

HIS PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SHARED BETWEEN SPECIALISED ORCHESTRAS IN BAROCK, CLASSICAL OR CONTEMPORARY MUSIC. HE APPEARS REGULARLY WITH GROUPS SUCH AS “LE CONCERT D’ASTRÉE”, “ENSEMBLE MODERN” FRANKFURT OR THE “ENSEMBLE INTERCONTEMPORAIN”. HE HAS JOINED WITH GREAT PLEASURE THE EUROPEAN CAMERATA PROJECTS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS.
