Petra Schwieger
Petra Schwieger, born in 1978 in Rathenow (Germany), studied at the “Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler” with Prof. Werner Scholz and Prof. Stephan Picard.
In September 2003 she moved to London to study with Prof. David Takeno at the “Guildhall School of Music and Drama”, holding a scholarship from the DAAD (German Exchange Program).
Petra won first prizes at the “Bundeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert” in 1994, 1995, 1996, the “Concerto Competition” Interlochen (USA) and second prizes at the “International Marschner Competition”Weimar and “Kloster Schoental” and was winner of the “ Instrumentenfond des Deutschen Musikrates”.
As a soloist she has performed with the “Philharmonsches Orchester Frankfurt/Oder”, with the “Radio-Sinfonieorchester Berlin”, the “World Youth Symphony Orchestra Interlochen”, the “Kurpfaelzisches Kammerorchester” and “Deutsches Kammerorchester” .
She is a passionate chamber musician, participating in various groups and as second violin in the “Erlenbusch-Quartett” since 2007.
She played recitals at festivals such as “ Festspiele Mecklenburg- Vorpommern”, “Dresdner Musikfestspiele” and the “Schwaetzinger Mozartfest”. In 2007 she was performing Mozart and Brahms piano quartets with Daniel Barenboim and memebers of the “Staatskapelle Berlin” in the “Matinee-Konzerte” in the “ Staatsoper unter den Linden”
She was substitute player in the “Berliner Philharmoniker” 2002-2003 and from 2003-2004 in “London- Symphony- Orchestra” (String Scheme) and is now a member of the “Staatskapelle Berlin”, in the Saison 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 as assistant concertmaster.
Petra was holding a scholarship from the “Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes”, “Jürgen-Ponto-Stiftung” and “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”.
